Israeli Parliament Speaker highlights “good relations” in Tbilisi visit

Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, on Monday highlighted his “extraordinary” meeting with his Georgian counterpart Shalva Papuashvili in Tbilisi, which he said reviewed deepening the “good relations” between the countries.
In his remarks at a press briefing following the meeting, Ohana pledged the ties between the two states would “further deepen”.
We are connected by historical ties and contacts. A month ago there was a meeting between the prime ministers of our countries, and today we, the chairs of the [two] parliaments, continue our cooperation”, Ohana said.
The visiting official stressed the contacts were “extremely important” for development of the bilateral relations.
“Our extraordinary contacts in security will save many lives - we must fight against terrorism, we stand together in this. Also, we emphasised Israel's consistent policy and its full support for Georgia's territorial integrity”, he continued.
Ohana added he was looking forward to Papuashvili’s visit to Israel.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday highlighted “bonds of friendship” between the Georgian and Jewish peoples and noted the “strong ties form the basis for a fruitful, multidimensional cooperation between the two states” in a meeting with the visiting Israeli counterpart Amir Ohana.
Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset on Sunday said that the Israeli side “appreciated” the Georgian population and the country’s Government’s respect for Jewish communities, and stressed that the relationship between two countries has been “getting stronger”.
Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset on Sunday arrived in Georgia on an official visit, with Givi Mikanadze, the Head of the Georgia-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group welcoming the official at Tbilisi International Airport.
Lasha Zhvania, the Georgian Ambassador to Israel on Thursday said the relations between Georgia and Israel were developing “dynamically” and noted cooperation “has been constantly growing” in all directions, including trade and economic relations.
Cooperation between Georgia and Israel in “various fields” was discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Saturday condemned “unjustified, brutal, and inhumane” aggression against Israel.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry on Saturday said the country’s Embassy in Israel was “in communication” with Georgian citizens amid the ongoing Hamas attack on Israel.
