Matters related to Georgia’s European Union integration process were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib.
In a social media message following the discussion, Darchiashvili noted he had reviewed a “wide range of issues” on bilateral agenda with the top Belgian diplomat.

Darchiashvili extended his gratitude to Lahbib for “remaining engaged” in helping the country move forward on the EU integration path, and stressed the top priority of receiving the EU membership candidate status later this year as the “next step” on the road to the bloc.
Lahbib on Tuesday said the goal of the visit to the South Caucasus, which will also bring her to Armenia and Azerbaijan, was to promote “lasting peace” in the region and strengthening of the “bonds that unite us”.
