Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Wednesday said he was certain that Belgium would be one of those countries that would support Georgia’s European integration “very openly and strongly”.
Assessing the meeting with his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib during the latter’s official visit to Georgia, Darchiashvili noted that strengthening the relations and cooperation between the countries had been discussed.
The Belgian side expressed readiness to help Georgia on its path of European integration in terms of sharing experience, the FM emphasised, stressing the importance of Belgium chairing the EU Council next year, which would play “a major role” in the direction of the bloc’s expansion.
Darchiashvili also said that bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as relations in other sectors, had been part of the conversation.
