Belgian FM visits occupation line during Georgia visit

The Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib on Thursday visited the central Georgian village of Odzisi to observe the administrative line separating the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region from the rest of the country, as part of her regional visit to the country.

Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Georgia's Representative to the European Union, and a representative of the State Security Service informed Lahbib about the “severe” humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia and along the occupation line, the Georgian foreign office said.

In the framework of her visit, the Belgian official held face-to-face and extended format meetings with her Georgian counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili between Wednesday and Thursday.
