Georgian PM arrives in Beijing as part of his visit to China

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Saturday arrived in China’s capital city of Beijing, as part of his ongoing visit to the country, the Government Administration said.

The Head of the Government is set to hold bilateral high-level meetings in the capital.

 

Garibashvili started his visit to China on Thursday, where he attended the opening ceremony of the 31st FISU World University Games, a multi-sport event hosted in Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan Province of China.

 

 

On the sidelines of the Summer World University Games, Garibashvili met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, with the latter announcing the establishment of a strategic partnership with Georgia and a “new stage” in bilateral ties between the two countries.

In his turn, the Georgian PM highlighted the "importance of friendship and partnership" with China.
