Georgia is moving to the “highest level” of relations with China, this is a strategic partnership, and within its framework, the cooperation in education and science is also expanding, Giorgi Amilakhvari, Georgian Minister of Education and Science, said on Sunday.
Following the unveiling ceremony of 12th-century Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli’s bust at the Beijing University of Language and Culture, Amilakhvari told journalists it was “another underlining” of the existing friendship and cooperation between Georgian and Chinese people.
He emphasised the signing of a memorandum of understanding on Chinese language education in primary and secondary schools of Georgia would “lay the foundation” for mutual cooperation both in terms of higher education, cultural exchange, and also cooperation in research projects between the research institutes.
Amilakhvari highlighted the “utmost importance” of the rapprochement of Georgian and Chinese universities to finance exchange programmes for students and professors, which would create “even more opportunities” for Georgian education and science.
