Georgian PM inspects rehabilitation works in western Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Svaneti regions

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili inspected rehabilitation works as part of the Renewed Regions state programme in western Georgia’s Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions, the Government Administration said on Saturday.

 

Garibashvili, together with Irakli Karseladze, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, visited the renovated Tamar Mepe Street in Lentekhi. Within the framework of the project, the external facades of 24 buildings were renewed and street and square landscaping works were carried out.

 

As part of the PM-initiated Renewed Regions programme, in total external facades of 39 buildings will be rehabilitated, as well as fences, sidewalks and a square will be arranged, with the works being carried out in three stages. 

On the first and second stage works ₾4,935,828 (about $1,915,264) was spent and an additional ₾1,8 million (about  $6,9 mln) will be allocated for the project.

Together with Leri Barnabishvili, the Head of the Regional Relations Department of the Government Administration and representatives of the executive, legislative and local authorities, the PM also visited the renewed area of mineral waters with the arranged roadway, drainage system, parking space, installed decorative lighting and benches in Lentekhi, for which over ₾1,2 million (about $465,639) was allocated by the Pilot Integrated Regional Development Programme.

Within the Renewed Regions state programme a new, modern standard agrarian market was built and Lado Asatiani Square and 17 buildings on Shota Rustaveli and Merab Kostava streets were rehabilitated, with an additional outdoor lighting installed and facades of buildings, pedestrian lanes and fences of neighbouring houses updated.

 

The works in Tsageri were carried out in three stages, with ₾5,031,885 (about $1,952,537) spent on the first two stages and additional ₾1 million (about $388,033) planned to be allocated for the project.
