PM inspects rehabilitated center of western Georgia’s town of Vani

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, with the Head of the Regional Liaison Department of the Government Administration, Leri Barnabishvili, visited the rehabilitated center of the country’s western town of Vani.

 

Under the Renewed Regions state programme for infrastructure, a total of 35 buildings and three parks were renovated and the central square, the market area, and the adjacent commercial areas were also arranged, with the cost of the works amounting to ₾11.8 million (about $4.5 mln).

 

 

Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze briefed the Head of the Government on the implemented projects within the state programme and said the first phase of works was completed and the second phase started. 727 buildings and the surrounding areas have already been renovated with energy-efficient materials, he added.

During the visit to the town, Garibashvili also attended the awarding ceremony of the Vani Archeological Museum, which received the Silletto Prize of the European Museum of the Year Award for Community Participation and Engagement. 

 

The Museum has gained international recognition as an outstanding center that has a special potential to make positive changes for the benefit of society.
