Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, together with the representatives of the executive, legislative and local authorities, on Saturday visited the newly built Museum of Local Lore in Georgia's western Oni municipality.
General Director of the Georgian National Museum David Lortkipanidze briefed the PM on the implemented works, while Garibashvili announced that the GNM and the Municipal Development Fund would work together to equip the Oni museum appropriately, for which additional funds would be allocated from the budget.
The construction of a new, modern standard museum building, which is fully adapted for people with disabilities, including two-light halls for permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as museum collections storage, a conference hall and spaces for a library, and children’s educational area, was completed in 2022.
The Government allocated ₾5.5 million (about $2,1mln) for financing the design and construction of the museum, for which local natural stones and wood materials were used.
The Museum of Local Lore will house unique and important artefacts accumulated over the years.
