PM inspects rehabilitation works, sports infrastructure in western city of Ambrolauri​​​​​​​

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Saturday inspected rehabilitation works and newly arranged sports infrastructure in the country’s western city of Ambrolauri, the Government Administration said.

Garibashvili, together with Irakli Karseladze, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Leri Barnabishvili, the Head of the Regional Relations Department of the Government Administration visited renovated squares and Krichula river banks.

 

 

As part of the PM-initiated Renewed Regions programme, two squares were completely rehabilitated, external facades of the buildings were replaced with energy-efficient materials and pedestrian lanes, benches and open-air stage were installed, with total of ₾4 million (about $1.5 mln) spent on the project.

Garibashvili also inspected beautification works of Krichula river banks, which was carried out within the Pilot Integrated Regional Development Programme and the works included organising recreational spaces, bicycle path and pedestrian bridge, as well as installing an outdoor lighting system, benches and other outdoor furniture.

 

Newly arranged sports infrastructure built recently in the territory adjacent to Agrano Vachadze Football Stadium, including a football pitch, basketball and tennis courts, and a sand volleyball court, was visited by the PM.

Concrete running tracks were also paved along the inner perimeter, the territory was fenced, lighting was installed, and damaged infrastructure was replaced with ₾905,555 (about $351,385) allocated for the project under the Pilot Programme.

During his visit to Ambrolauri, Garibashvili was hosted at a winemaking enterprise in the city - Melitoni, with the owner of the winery, Giorgi Skhirtladze briefing the PM about his enterprise and emphasising the importance of projects carried out in support of the village, as well as highlighting the assistance of state programs in the winery's establishment and successful operation.

Melitoni winery, which processes 100 tons of grapes per season, is a beneficiary of ₾300,000 (about $116,409) co-financing from the Rural Development Agency and a ₾450,000 (about $174,614) preferential agricultural credit.

The Head of the Government, together with his spouse Nunuka Tamazashvili, was hosted by Bishop Vakhtang of Nikortsminda, who blessed Garibashvili and wished him success.

 

 

Together with representatives of the executive, legislative and local authorities, the PM visited the church named after the Mother of God of Barakoni in the village of Kess in the Ambrolauri municipality.
