Georgia’s Special Investigation Service on Tuesday said it had arrested two individuals for an assault on a SferoNews journalist in Tbilisi earlier this year.
The agency said its investigation had established the reporter was assaulted by the children of their respondent during an interview in the capital on March 14, in a “violent” attack where they attempted to take the video camera off the journalist.
Two offenders were charged with the crime on June 23 following a “thorough” investigation, it added.
The Service also said it had launched investigations into 12 cases involving violence against journalists over the past year, with eight offenders charged for incidents.
