Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs on Wednesday said police officers had arrested an individual for an assault on one of the Formula TV founders Misha Mshvildadze.
Formula TV on Tuesday said the offender had physically attacked Mshvildadze in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.
In his social media post, a local resident of Tbilisi earlier today said he was responsible for assaulting the TV founder, telling his followers he had physically attacked Mshvildadze for “insulting the Catholicos Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church and the Church, as well as Georgian nation”.
The District Court in the central Georgian municipality of Gori on Monday ruled to keep the individual arrested for assault on Zurab Girchi Japaridze, the leader of the Girchi - More Freedom opposition party, in the locality on Saturday in custody, ahead of hearings in the case.
