Georgia’s Special Investigation Service on Friday said it had arrested one individual for an assault on a TV Pirveli journalist earlier this week.
The agency said the offender had assaulted journalist Nato Gogelia in the village of Bakhvi, in the country’s western Ozurgeti region, on Wednesday during her reporting work.
While physically attacking her, the offender also snatched the journalist's phone away before damaging it.
Charged with violence, damage of property and obstruction of professional work of the media, the assailant was arrested with a court order.
The Service also said it had launched investigations into 12 cases involving violence against journalists over the last year, with seven offenders charged for the incidents.
