Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Council of Europe’s Secretary General, on Saturday discussed the existing cooperation, as well as the significance of the CoE’s support to Georgia.
The importance of granting Georgia the European Union membership candidate status was highlighted by Garibashvili, with the sides emphasising the endeavours made by the Georgian Government for the fulfilment of the 12 priorities outlined by the EU last year for granting the country its membership status.
The Head of the Government thanked the CoE Secretary General for the efforts made by the Council in the process of democratic reforms in Georgia, the Government Administration said.

The conversation also touched on the situation in the occupied territories, with the Georgian side expressing gratitude towards the Council for their involvement in the process of peaceful resolution of the conflict and restoration of trust between communities divided by the conflicts.
