Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Council of Europe’s Secretary General, on Friday visited central Georgia’s village of Odzisi, which separates the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region from the rest of the country, as part of her official visit to Georgia.
Tamar Taliashvili, Georgia's Permanent Representative to the CoE and the representative of the State Security Service, informed Burić about the “severe” humanitarian situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia and along the occupation line, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
In her tweet, Burić reaffirmed the CoE’s support to Georgia’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
