Three football professionals from Georgia will join committees at the UEFA following selections that came along with the European governing body’s recognition of the country’s organisational efforts for the sport.
Former national team player Aleksandre Iashvili will serve at the Football Committee of the organisation, while Akaki Aladashvili and Kakha Chumburidze, vice presidents of the Georgian Football Federation, will join the Legal Committee and the Committee of National Associations respectively.
The new members will continue the Georgian representation at the body, with five professionals from the country previously selected to serve at various committees of UEFA.
GFF General Secretary Davit Mujiri revealed the selections to the Georgian Public Broadcaster on Wednesday, noting UEFA was pleased with the organisation of the ongoing Under-21 European Championship, co-hosted by Georgia and Romania.
GFF President Levan Kobiashvili, who was elected as a member of the UEFA Executive Committee in April, featured in Wednesday’s proceedings at the European governing body’s headquarters in Nyon. The discussion highlighted the country’s organisational support for the national U21 team's “athletic accomplishments”, Mujiri said.
