Georgian PM hosts FIBA World Cup on Trophy Tour

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday hosted the Naismith Trophy given to the men's champion of the FIBA Basketball World Cup as part of the Trophy Tour.

Garibashvili met Viktor Sanikidze, the President of the Georgian National Basketball Federation, Lasha Gamkrelidze, the Secretary General of the Georgian National Basketball Federation, as well as the national basketball team coach and players Duda Sanadze and Giorgi Shermadini, the Government Administration said.

The Government head wished “all the best” to the basketball national team at the World Championship, scheduled between August 25 to September 10, hosted at Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia with the 32 teams competing in 92 games spread across 16 days.

The Trophy Tour is a project of the International Basketball Federation that includes bringing the main award of the World Cup to the countries participating in the Championship, various meetings and activities.
