The “strategic partnership” and the dynamics of fruitful cooperation between the Georgian and United States governments were discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Brian Kemp, the Governor of the US State of Georgia.

The PM’s press office said the officials expressed willingness to strengthen and expand the partnership in “various fields”.

The meeting also covered prospects of strengthening the existing economic opportunities, with the sides noting the “steadfast backing and assistance” by the US for Georgia over the past 30 years had been “crucial” for strengthening the country's democratic institutions, enhancing its defence capabilities and fostering economic progress.

The discussion also covered the “productive partnership” between the Georgian Ministry of Defence and the Georgia State National Guard.

Garibashvili noted his Government appreciated the “outstanding” defence and security cooperation between the two countries, which he called “crucial” in raising the Georgian Defence Forces’ readiness, capabilities and NATO compatibility.
