Georgia has “steadfastly” continued to support Ukraine in political, diplomatic and humanitarian directions since the beginning of Russia's full-scale military aggression against the country, the Georgian Government’s annual report on its work has said.
Set to be submitted to the Parliament today before it is presented to MPs by the Prime Minister later this month, the document notes the Government has expressed its solidarity with Ukraine within international platforms through its co-authoring and co-sponsoring of resolutions, or joining of statements, in support of the country defending itself from the Russian invasion.
Since the beginning of the war, the number of statements, declarations and decisions in support of Ukraine, endorsed by Georgia in international organisations, has exceeded 500. Georgia [also] provides significant humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine, including to more than 26,000 Ukrainians in Georgia, through various social and educational programmes”, the document says.
It also highlights the aid provided by the Georgian Government within the support packages has amounted to about ₾38 million ($14.5 million).
In addition, the Government says it has acceded to “all joint statements” made within the framework of the Crimean Platform, as well as to the Bucha Declaration on accountability for the most serious crimes under international law committed by Russia on the territory of Ukraine.
The “dynamic” development of relations between Georgia and NATO are highlighted in the annual report on the work of the country’s Government, set to be submitted to the Parliament today before it is presented to MPs by the Prime Minister later this month.
Georgia voted on a United Nations General Assembly resolution on Wednesday to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, joining 140 other countries in the vote.
