Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday condemned the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Dnipro River in Ukraine as “another irresponsible act” occurring during the ongoing war in the country with “catastrophic consequences”.
In his remarks over reports about the explosion at the dam, and Ukrainian authorities’ accusations on the role of Russian forces in the incident, Papuashvili said Russia “must end the brutality” in the conflict that he said was having an impact on the wider Black Sea region and beyond.

“Russia must end the brutality that has no borders and negatively influences everybody in the region and beyond. We call on the EU and others with effective influence instruments to engage more vigorously to end this disaster”, he said in a social media message.
The Operational Command South of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Tuesday said the Russian forces had blown up the dam.
