Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, and George Vella, the President of Malta, on Tuesday discussed bilateral cooperation during the visit of a Georgian Parliamentary delegation to the country.
The Parliament of Georgia said the officials acknowledged “common European values” shared by the two states, discussed the war in Ukraine and its consequences, as well as the ongoing occupation of two of Georgia’s regions by Russia.
In addition, Papuashvili and Vella highlighted Georgia's “favourable” geographical location and the country’s work to join the European Union.

Vella recognised Georgia's progress in the process and expressed the Maltese Government’s “unwavering support” for the former’s aspirations for EU membership.
The Georgian Parliamentary delegation includes MPs Nikoloz Samkharadze, Maka Botchorishvili, Givi Mikanadze, Ketevan Turazashvili as well as Levan Makhashvili, the Head of the Office of the Chairman of the Parliament.
