Traffic on Tbilisi avenue to be restricted for removal of holiday illuminations

Vehicle traffic on Tbilisi’s Rustaveli Avenue will be restricted for six hours between midnight on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday to allow city service professionals to remove illuminations installed for Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The City Hall said the section between the First Republic Square and Freedom Square would come under the restrictions.

It added drivers  would be redirected to Leonidze, Ingorokva, Aleksandre Chavchavadze and Griboedovi streets , as well as Baratashvili and Tabukashvili streets, while those heading from Melikishvili Street to the rest of Mtatsminda Street would be diverted to Tarkhnishvili, Janashia, Chivelidze and Zandukeli streets and then to Barnovi, Gogebashvili and Kakabadze Brothers streets.

Drivers heading towards Melikishvili Street and the area adjacent to the Rustaveli metro station will have to divert via Griboedovi, Makashvili, Barnovi and Shanidze streets.

On Freedom Square, traffic will be only restricted in the direction of Rustaveli Avenue, while drivers heading to the Square from the area adjacent to the Rustaveli metro station will be redirected to Javakhishvili Street and the right bank of River Mtkvari.
