The Georgian National Tourism Administration and 52 domestic tourist businesses are promoting visitor sights and destinations of Georgia at the Arabian Travel Market, a trade exhibition running between Monday and Wednesday in Dubai.

As part of the exhibition, which hosts 2,000 businesses from more than 150 countries, Maia Omiadze, the Head of the GNTA, met with representatives of tourist and airline companies, international media and travel platforms based in Gulf countries.

Omiadze introduced them to the “large-scale” events planned in the country for the summer season, including artist performances for Starring Georgia - a programme involving a series of shows with international artists to promote Georgia’s tourism sector, economy and culture.

In her comments, Omiadze said the meetings with the marketing and travel firms were “interesting”, adding the programme for artist performances had generated “a lot of interest”.

The tourism body said representatives of the country’s tourist sector had also met those from Skyscanner, a major international booking platform, to discuss development of “coordinated marketing efforts”.

“We had a very interesting meeting with the representatives of Georgia. We are eager to launch a combined marketing initiative with Skyscanner to promote Georgia as a tourism destination”, the company said in comments.

Georgian private sector officials also met with potential partners interested in the country's mining, marine and health resort industries to explore cooperation and joint travel arrangements.
