The Georgian National Tourism Administration on Thursday featured in ITB Berlin Convention, a major international tourism trade fair, to promote the country’s potential to international tourist markets and plan marketing campaigns.

The Administration said its Head Maia Omiadze met with representatives of “influential” media platforms and companies, including National Geographic, Bloomberg and Wanderlust, and organisers of the international culinary festival Nat Geo Food Fest. They held discussions with representatives of China Ready, a global accreditation system that identifies products and services that Chinese consumers can trust, participating in the exhibition.

Marcus Lee, the Head of China Travel Online, a major outbound travel portal, said he held “very important” talks with the GNTA, and noted visa-free travel announced last month between Georgia and China was “very welcome”.

We will support the GNTA to make Georgia's tourist destination[s] in China more recognisable and [bring] more Chinese tourists to visit Georgia”, he added.

The GNTA said over 1,300 tourism companies and organisations from 132 countries featured in the fair, with more than 1,250 sales companies present at the exhibition. The private sector had the opportunity to network with international tourism companies and find new business partners, it also noted.
