Georgia’s Justice Ministry on Tuesday said it had approved the 2023 action plan for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, ensuring compliance with the relevant United Nations Convention and serving to improve the accessibility of the related infrastructure, services and offerings for persons with disabilities.
The Ministry said the approval ensured compliance with provisions on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and incorporated tasks and activities designed to ensure application of the domestic Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The document reflects recommendations from non-governmental organisations, groups working on issues of disabled people and the community of disabled persons, received during its drafting.
Its preparation and approval involved representatives of sub-departmental institutions and legal entities under the Ministry, it added.
