Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, on Tuesday, by addressing the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, said the European Union would stand by him “every step of the way”.
Following the meeting between the officials in Brussels earlier today, Michel said the EU remained “firmly committed” to” Georgia’s European perspective, the “historic opportunity” for Georgian people.

Michel and Garibashvili discussed the process of Georgia's accession to the EU, where Garibashvili briefed the European Council President about the efforts made by his Government in fulfilling the EU recommendations for granting the country the membership candidate status.
The process of Georgia's accession to the European Union was discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Charles Michel, the President of the European Council.
The dynamics of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as the heavy agenda of bilateral cooperation between the country and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, was discussed on Tuesday by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO Secretary General.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday said the “freedom-loving” Georgian nation “believes in Europe” and added it was “high time” for Europe “to believe in itself and in us too”, in comments at a conference of speakers of parliaments of European Union member and partner states.
