Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Tuesday praised Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s “very important” meeting with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, where the Georgian Government’s “special efforts” in the fulfilment of the EU recommendations “as promptly as possible” had been highlighted.
At the meeting, the “main message” of the PM was that his Government "spared no effort” in the implementation of the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Council for granting Georgia the membership candidate status, with “maximum inclusiveness”, Darchiashvili emphasised.
To reduce polarisation in the country, the PM expressed the Government’s readiness to “actively participate” in the “vital” depolarisation process, Darchiashvili said, “once again” calling on all the stakeholders in Georgia, including the representatives of the domestic opposition, to “put aside their own political agenda” in this regard, the Foreign Ministry said.
