The parties expressed hope that the progress of Georgia and its aspirations would be “properly reflected” in the subsequent decisions of the alliance, both in terms of political support of the country and strengthening its practical capabilities.
Georgia, as a NATO aspirant country, was highlighted as “one of the most” reliable and capable partners of the alliance, which had made “a great contribution” to the strengthening of common Euro-Atlantic security. The officials noted that the country had “significantly” developed its defence capabilities with the support of its allies.
The conversation also touched on the ongoing war in Ukraine and the difficult security environment in the Black Sea region, emphasising Georgia's role in the region’s security. The NATO official reaffirmed the alliance’s “unwavering” support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The upcoming NATO Vilnius summit, which is scheduled to take place on July 11-12 in the capital city of Lithuania, was also reviewed by the sides.
