Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili will discuss the country’s European integration in a meeting with the “high-ranking” European Union representatives and foreign ministers of the member states on Monday.
Within the framework of the session meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, with the main topic - EU enlargement, the officials will review the progress achieved by Georgia in fulfilling the 12 conditions set for granting the country the EU membership candidate status.
The conversation will also touch on the “priority directions” of Georgia-EU relations and prospects for deepening cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said.
In his comments to the media, Darchiashvili highlighted the upcoming visit as a “truly unique opportunity” to share Georgia’s “concrete results” in the implementation of the EU recommendations, as well as the plans for their final complete fulfilment, with Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and FMs of 27 member states.
Darchiashvili is also set to hold a bilateral meeting with his Luxembourger counterpart, as part of his working visit to the country.
