Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday left for a visit of Azerbaijan where he will hold a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev.
Following the meeting of the leaders of the neighbouring countries, they will make joint comments to the media, the Georgian Government Administration said.
The delegation headed by the Prime Minister includes Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili and Head of Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday hailed the “very important, historical” projects implemented with Azerbaijan, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Black Sea Strategic Submarine Electricity Cable projects, noting the relations between the countries have been “tested by time” and “at the highest level”.
The “positive” development of relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan creates a “stronger” foundation for deepening partnership cooperation, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said on Thursday in a meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov in Tbilisi.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday hailed Azerbaijan as “not only a friend but also a very strong strategic partner” for his country, and highlighted joint efforts to export green energy to Europe through the Black Sea submarine cable project.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili will be on an official visit to Azerbaijan between Monday and Tuesday, the Georgian Parliament press office said on Monday.
