The Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Thursday arrested four individuals for an attempt of illegal crossing of the state border through the Sarpi customs checkpoint in the south-west of the country.
Two citizens of Turkey and two Tunisian nationals were arrested while attempting to avoid “border control procedures”, the body said.
In its comments, the Ministry also said the former were attempting to cross the border in the direction of Turkey, while the latter had crossed the boundary before their arrest.
The offence is punishable by four to five years imprisonment.
