Georgian police officers arrested two individuals for misappropriation of a “large amount of money” from an enterprise by staging an assault in Tbilisi, the Georgian Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday.
The Ministry said the fake assault had been staged by the duo to enable appropriation of ₾150,000 ($58,225) from an enterprise where one of them worked as an accountant.
The employee was supposed to be “attacked” by their brother in the staged scenario and having the funds taken from them.
The money involved in the scheme has been seized by police officers during their personal search of the offenders, with the two facing up to 11 years in prison.
