A Russian citizen wanted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation for charges of conspiracy, access device fraud and computer fraud has been extradited from Georgia to the US, the Georgian Prosecutor's Office said on Monday.

The body said the relevant investigation, carried out in the US, had established the offender had created a virus and used it to obtain credentials for accessing a computer system of his targets, who resided in Florida, between 2016-2019.

Selling both the virus software and the obtained data, the offender had made about ₾1,000,000 ($387,000), before being arrested in October in Georgia’s western city of Kobuleti.

Following a court approval for his extradition, the offender has been handed over to US investigative officials, the Georgian body added.
