The United States is Georgia’s main strategic partner and “everything will be done” to deepen the relations between the two states, Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, said on Wednesday.

Kobakhidze was commenting on the US State Department’s inclusion of $88 million in support for Georgia in its draft budget for 2023.

The United States is our main strategic partner and, of course, everything will be done not only to maintain but also to further deepen this strategic partnership,” the GD official said in comments on the support package.

The text of the Congressional Budget Justification for the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs was published on Monday.

The text says the US assistance will support Georgia’s democratic and economic development, the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as in building resilience to counter the Kremlin influence.
