FM: Georgian Gov't particularly “proud” of Georgia-US relations

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday said the Georgian Government was particularly “proud” of the relations between Georgia and the United States.

We especially appreciate the relations with our strategic partner that have been developing in recent years, and we are especially proud of the relations that exist between Georgia and the United States”, the top Georgian diplomat said.
Darchiashvili noted the Georgian Government aimed at working “very closely” with “our strategic partner” to deepen and strengthen bilateral relations that had been established over the years.
Our relations with the United States are particularly valuable, particularly important, and we cherish these relations, which are a foundation for further strengthening and deepening our future relations”, he concluded in his comments.
The United States is Georgia’s main strategic partner and “everything will be done” to deepen the relations between the two states, Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, said on Wednesday.
The Georgia-US relationship today is “as strong as ever", and our friendship is based on “shared values”, said Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, on the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between two countries.
Gia Volski, a ruling party MP and the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Friday said the United States was the “strongest and the most efficient supporter” of Georgia, but added on its part, it also did not have “as loyal a partner and friend as Georgia” in the South Caucasus region.
Political leaders in the United States, including President Biden, have made it clear that Georgia is an important partner for the country, US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan told Georgian press on Thursday.
The hilltop TV tower overlooking Georgia’s capital Tbilisi was on Tuesday illuminated in the colours of the flag of the United States to commemorate Independence Day celebrations.
