The citizens living in Georgia’s Russian-occupied territories should know the Government’s position that the country’s territorial integrity can only be restored through peaceful means and not through use of force, Sozar Subari, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, said at a Parliament plenary sitting today.

“This is a policy that our country is not going to deviate from. Our fellow citizens living in the occupied territories - Abkhazians, Ossetians and citizens of any nationality - can be confident that we are not waiting for a ‘right moment’ to restore our territorial integrity with weapons”, Subari said.

“It is completely unacceptable when politicians of a friendly country directly call us to join the war”, the Georgian MP said in reference to recent statements of Ukrainian officials Aleksei Danilov and  Volodymyr Viatrovych.

The two politicians had said Georgia would “greatly help” Ukraine in its defence from the ongoing Russian invasion by opening fronts against Russia to forcefully regain control over the occupied Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
