Georgia has repeatedly proven to be a “trusted and experienced” NATO partner capable of making a “valuable contribution” to global peace and security, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said on Thursday at an event held for the 2022 NATO-Georgia Exercise.

Papuashvili the NATO-Georgia partnership was based on “the values of freedom, independence, respect for human rights and love for the homeland” and had contributed to the development of the Georgian army, its combat readiness and training.

Eighty percent of the Georgian Defence Forces have served - with dignity - in the framework of NATO and European Union missions. Today, our proud military personnel can accomplish the most difficult tasks. All questions regarding their professionalism and readiness, as well as compatibility with NATO standards, have been removed,” the Parliament Speaker said.

The NATO-Georgia Exercise is part of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, which aims to enhance Georgia's compatibility with the alliance.

The first edition of the exercise was held in 2016 and involved 14 NATO allied and partner nations.
