It is “especially important” for Georgia to continuously develop its defence capabilities, strengthen resilience and improve its compatibility with NATO standards, President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili said on Thursday at an event held for the 2022 NATO-Georgia Exercise.
Zourabichvili underlined the international community agreed that European peace and security faced “never-before-seen challenges” on the backdrop of the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine.
Among the various initiatives of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, cybersecurity and strategic communications have been the main areas of the ongoing exercise. Developing Georgia's capacity in these areas is critical to addressing the global challenges today,” Zourabichvili noted.
She also extended her gratitude to all participants of the joint drills for their contribution to the development of Georgia's defence capabilities.
The NATO-Georgia Exercise is part of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, which aims to enhance Georgia's compatibility with the alliance.
The first edition of the exercise was held in 2016 and involved 14 NATO allied and partner nations.
