Georgia will receive Paxlovid, a Covid-19 treatment medication created by Pfizer, starting this week, Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili announced on Tuesday.
Azarashvili said Georgia was among several countries worldwide receiving the medication for the virus, adding the medicine would be free for the patients whose condition might be “potentially aggravated” due to the infection, as well as those with chronic illnesses.
He further said it was necessary to take the medicine during the first five days after a confirmed case of the virus.
The Coordination Council, the state body overseeing Covid-related regulations and restrictions in Georgia, said earlier today Georgia would be the first country in the region to receive the novel treatment for Covid-19.
