Georgia reports 407 new cases of coronavirus, 3 deaths

Georgia has reported 407 new Covid-19 cases, 1,303 recoveries, and three deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last 14 days stands at 3.2 percent. 

Overall 5,583 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 22,788 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 20,485 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,303 were PCR tests. 

1,648,653 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,626,296 of 1,648,653 patients have recovered, while 16,748 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The 407 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 194 cases 
  • Adjara - 15 cases 
  • Imereti - 49 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 19 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 13 cases 
  • Guria - 32 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 32 cases 
  • Kakheti - 28 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 9 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 7 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 9 cases

A total of 524 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 124 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

5,059 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,361,751 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,257,193 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.7 percent of the country’s adult population and 242,311 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
