Coronavirus: Georgia reports 1,053 new cases, 7 deaths

Georgia has reported 1,053 new Covid-19 cases, 2,067 recoveries, and seven deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last 14 days stands at 7.19 percent.
Overall 25,013 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.
A total of 21,614 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 19,284 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,330 were PCR tests.
1,643,295 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.
A total of 1,601,578 of 1,643,295 patients have recovered, while 16,678 have died from the virus.
The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases.
The 1,053 new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 447 cases
- Adjara - 34 cases
- Imereti - 143 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 37 cases
- Shida Kartli - 65 cases
- Guria - 84 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 99 cases
- Kakheti - 76 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 28 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 13 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 27 cases
A total of 766 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 208 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
24,247 people are undergoing treatment at home.
Overall, 1,356,735 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,253,736 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.5 percent of the country’s adult population and 232,573 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
Georgia has reported 368 new Covid-19 cases, 1,225 recoveries, and eight deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last 14 days stands at 8.23 percent. Overall 26,034 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.
Georgia has reported 872 new Covid-19 cases, 913 recoveries, and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last seven days stands at 6.61 percent. Overall 28,970 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.
Daily confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Georgia have decreased 24 times, while the cases of hospitalisation have dropped 12 times compared to data from February, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.
The Georgian government expects the number of Covid-19 cases to decrease in the upcoming weeks and to see the general situation with the epidemic to stabilise by the end of March, the country's prime minister Irakli Garibashvili said earlier today.
Wearing a face mask in outdoor spaces will no longer be mandatory across Georgia starting March 28, Giorgi Ghibradze of the Interagency Coordination Council announced earlier today.
Georgia will receive Paxlovid, a Covid-19 treatment medication created by Pfizer, starting this week, Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili announced on Tuesday.
