The ongoing war in Ukraine, its negative impact on security of the Black Sea region and Georgia in particular were discussed by the Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and United States Senator Ron Johnson in a phone call on Tuesday.
In the call, Zalkaliani and Johnson underlined the difficult security environment in the region and the importance of a strong, bipartisan support for Georgia by the US.

Zalkaliani briefed the American official on the steps and measures taken by Georgia in support of Ukraine, reaffirming support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity on the backdrop of its ongoing invasion by Russia.
The top Georgian diplomat also focused on the difficult situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia, both in terms of security and humanitarian situation, and thanked the Senator for US support for Georgia.
