Products provided by the beneficiaries of the programme, as well as other Georgian companies, were delivered to 90 Ukrainian nationals in Tbilisi, with Khidureli saying the move was designed to show “every citizen of Ukraine once again that we, Georgians, are by their side, and we hope the war in their country will end soon.”

Georgia has also provided aid worth one million GEL ($315,000/€279,000) to Ukraine, with The Georgian Post announcing it would deliver humanitarian parcels to Ukrainian citizens free of charge.

Russia began its military assault on Ukraine last week, after President Putin’s announcement of the recognition of the independence of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk on February 21.
