The importance of the joint efforts of the international community to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible was discussed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen in a phone call on Monday.

The Government Administration said the two officials had focused on the developments in Ukraine, in addition to discussions on Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration and bilateral relations between the two states.

In the call, Garibashvili and Frederiksen went over the “significant progress” made by Georgia on the path of its European integration, which culminated in the country’s formal application to join the European Union last week.

The Georgian PM told his Danish counterpart the support of the partner nations in the membership bid was of “particular importance”, and expressed his hope that Denmark would support Georgia in the process.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded to the phone call in a tweet, stressing that Denmark fully supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to Mette Frederiksen, Denmark and the European Union stand with “our Eastern partners” and will to help as needed.
