Georgia’s President Salome Zourabichvili has highlighted the European Union’s “historical importance” and the role of the unity of the EU in dealing with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, discussing the matters with European leaders on Sunday.
Zourabichvili spoke with her German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier and stressed the significance of “resolute German support” to Ukraine, as Russia continued its invasion, launched last week.
The President also tweeted about Europe’s support for Georgia amid the crisis of security in the region, calling it “more timely than ever.”

Zourabichvili also had a phone conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to discuss ongoing developments in Ukraine, and mentioned her and her colleagues’ support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as a “European perspective” both for Georgia and Ukraine, in her comments after the discussions.

The Georgian official spoke with Zelensky himself on Saturday, reaffirming Georgia's solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the face of the Russian invasion.
Zourabichvili travelled to France earlier today for an official visit that follows an invitation by French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, extended during an exchange of views regarding the conflict in Ukraine.
