President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili on Saturday extended her congratulations to Emmanuel Macron on his second term as the President of France.
Zourabichvili tweeted her message on the inauguration day in France, and pointed out Georgia hoped Macron would lead a “powerful France in a strong Europe” that would be “open to its neighbours”.
Mes félicitations sincères @EmmanuelMacron en ce jour d’investiture à la présidence de la république française pour ce second mandat. La #Géorgie compte sur vous pour mener une France forte dans une Europe puissante et ouverte à ses voisins.

The inauguration ceremony of the reelected Macron was held at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Saturday. In his speech, the incumbent President spoke of the need for “innovation” in the face of “unprecedented challenges” for the world and France.
The Presidential election runoffs took place on April 25, with Macron defeating his far-right adversary Marine Le Pen by garnering 58.5 percent of the vote. The result follows the election in 2017 against the same rival.
Macron is the first French president to be reelected over the past two decades, and will lead the country for the next five years.
