Europeans have a different outlook on the future of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, three of the countries in the European Union’s Eastern Partnership initiative, following the invasion of the former by Russia last week, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has said.
In a video address from France, Zourabichvili, who met President Macron on Monday, expressed confidence in the positive outcomes for Georgia “to become part of European unity”.
I want to address the Ukrainian people and reaffirm the support of all of Georgia and solidarity in this war.

I wish them resilience, because today Ukraine is fighting for everyone. It fights for Georgia, it fights for the whole of Europe and it fights for freedom#SlavaUkraini pic.twitter.com/uwCtCJOvL4
The Georgian official also said Europe had shown its “dignity” with “unity and active support” of Ukraine in the face of the Russian aggression, and also stressed the importance of Georgia’s solidarity for the country.
The President said Ukraine was “fighting for our freedom”, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in turn expressing gratitude to her for “friendly support”.

Russia began its military assault on Ukraine last week, after President Putin’s announcement of the recognition of the independence of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk on February 21.
The international community has condemned the invasion, expressing support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The European Union, United States and several other countries have imposed sanctions on Russia.
