Residents of Georgia’s western cities of Kutaisi and Zugdidi and students of the Kutaisi-based Akaki Tsereteli State University met officials from the prosecutor general’s office on Monday to discuss measures being taken by authorities against femicide and importance of public participation in the effort.
Hosted as part of the body’s recently launched national campaign against femicide, the event saw the official share information on the body’s work to combat femicide, gender-based and domestic violence, as well as review existing challenges in the work, the prosecutor’s office said.

The state body launched a public campaign against femicide in late October, with the office supported in the initiative by the United States embassy and the United Nations women’s organisation.
