Georgian defence minister Juansher Burchuladze on Friday said his government was working on the purchase of anti-aircraft and anti-armor equipment.

Rafal [French company] is one of the best companies in the world and we are working on modernisation. We also work with the Polish state enterprise, which is one of the largest enterprises in Europe and around the world, on the purchase of both anti-aircraft and anti-armor equipment. Today, this process is very complicated”, Burchuladze told Imedi TV.

Burchuladze also reviewed the changes related to the procurement, caused by the war in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine changed the production rates, methods and means of procurement. However, Georgia is always a priority for almost all the world's major manufacturers. We have achieved results here as well, and we will inform our public about the details in the near future”, he continued.

Burchuladze also pointed out that the Georgian government would develop the country’s defence capabilities.

By the end of the year, we will receive test versions of the drones, and next year we will move to mass production. At the same time, we took steps in the field of anti-aircraft systems. We sent the means for modernisation to Israel”, he concluded.
