Georgian minister of foreign affairs Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday said his government was continuing its support for Ukraine in “political, diplomatic and humanitarian directions”, which he said had started with the launch of Russia's "full-scale military aggression" against the country.

Since the beginning of the war, the number of our statements, declarations and decisions supporting Ukraine in international organisations exceeds 400”, Darchiashvili said.

During the minister's report to MPs on his body’s work today, he clarified the government had supported and sponsored 55 resolutions, made 184 national statements, joined 139 statements of the European Union, 42 other joint statements and 24 initiatives “of other kinds" in support of Ukraine.

Darchiashvili also said Georgia had provided "significant financial and humanitarian aid" since the beginning of the war - including for more than 28,000 Ukrainians in Georgia - through social programmes and the implementation of Ukrainian-language classes in schools.
